Game Play
The WFTTC follows the ITTF rules for matches. In summary: Games to 11 (win by two), rotate serves every two points.
First to win three games wins.
If you are there early enough to be the first two people on a table, winner of the match stays. Once all the tables are setup and you arrive you start by making a "challenge" by placing your paddle at the center base of the table. Once the two people currently
playing have a winner, you come to the table to play. Win or lose, you will remain on the table and accept the challenge of the next person. This way everyone gets to play two and only two matches win or lose. Once you leave a table look for another table to
"challenge".
Club Etiquette
- Please pay attention of your order when placing your paddle under the table. There should be labels under the table to help preserve order. Use those if available. If not, please pay special
attention to the order of your paddle. There may be paddles on the other side of the table. Be open to the possibility that you may be wrong in your perception of the order. Don't start a fight.
- You may NOT reserve a spot under a table, while playing on another table. Violation of this rule will get you kicked out for the night.
- Warm up for games is only allowed if there are no paddles waiting on your table. If there are paddles under your table, you MUST play immediately
- If you want to practice rather than play a game, that's fine, but you are limited to 15 minutes. The next person after you shouldn't have to remind you that your time is up. Please keep your practice time to 15 minutes.
- No Food or Drinks (Except water) is allowed in the gym. Please respect that rule.
- Don't make a scene when you lose (or win) a point. Don't over react. (Keep the "cho" to a reasonable level and frequency) Don't cry, swear or shout. Other people are playing and don't care to hear your moaning or self adulation.
- Please be careful when retrieving a ball that strays into other play areas. Don't go directly behind other players as they may not see you and move back quickly and run into you. Avoid interfering with other's games chasing down balls. Just wait until they either stop play or finish a point to get the ball.
- If a ball goes in your play area and you haven't started playing a point yet. Help your brother out and get the ball for him. Also make sure you are throwing the ball to the right person. Don't assume the ball belongs to the players right next to you. Look around before just throwing the ball out of your area.
